Metropolitan Dallas Alumnae

 History

    On August 8, 1985, the METROPOLITAN DALLAS ALUMNAE CHAPTER, affectionately known throughout the Dallas-Ft.Worth Metroplex as "MDA",  was chartered as the 754th chapter in the Southwest Region. Metropolitan Dallas Alumnae has the distinction of being the only Chapter with a misnomer. All second city chapters are usually named with the city first, followed by the specific geographic area or identifier as in "Dallas Metropolitan."

The first Officers were: President Shirley Fridia; Vice-President Callie Carlock; Treasurer Willie Mae Hughey; Secretary Dassa Giles; Financial Secretary Willie J. Blair; and Member-at-Large to the Executive Board Ola Comins.

    On October 10, 1987, One Delta Place Community Life Development Center located at 2525 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard was purchased in cash! A former crack house, now serves as a visible sign in the community used to provide training, community services, and programs to benefit the Dallas community. It also serves as a base for the planning, development and implementation of programs, all of which focus on the Sorority's Five-Point Program Thrust: 

• Educational Development
• Economic Development
• Physical and Mental Health
• Political Awareness and Involvement
• International Awareness and Involvement

In keeping with the Sorority's Five-Point Thrust, the Metropolitan Dallas Alumnae (MDA) chapter continues the legacy set forth by its charter members through its various programs and activities in the community.
