Mesquite-September 13, 2006 - Pirrung Elementary Parent Teacher Association (PTA) celebrated its annual school and community health fair on Tuesday, September 12, 2006. More than 750 people were in attendance. The purpose of the health fair was to increase health awareness through education, prevention and information. Approximately 50 exhibitors participated!
This event provided a valuable service to its students and their families. Basic screenings, such as blood sugar, vision and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing was offered and a variety of information was provided to the students and their parents. The fair also conducted a voter registration drive, a blood drive and a food drive. The voter registration drive was conducted by the Metropolitan Dallas Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta and the food drive benefited Mesquite Social Services.
This event offered something for everyone.
The event was coordinated by Renee McMillion Clark, a member of the Metropolitan Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
