There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes for each contest by Region.  The Regional Winners will then compete for the national prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

 

 

Every student that submits a complete application will receive a Prize!  While supplies last.

Poster and Essay Contest Rules

 

 

This application packet is for those who plan to enter the Sciences and Everyday Experiences (SEE) Essay and Poster Contest.  Please complete the following materials and return them as a complete packet by Friday, March 24, 2006.  Incomplete packets cannot be considered.  The SEE contests are open to public, private, and home school students.  The Poster contest is for students between the ages of 10-14 as of December 1, 2005.  The Essay contest is for students between the ages of 15-18 as of December 1, 2005.  Only one entry per student will be considered.  A complete application packet consists of the student application, student pre-survey, and essay or poster.  

 

Essay Contest Rules

Your essay should answer the question: "How Will Science and Math Help You Reach Your Career Goal?"

 

Essays must meet the following specifications:

Pages: Two pages maximum

Spacing: Double-spaced

Font size:12

Font type:  Arial or Times new roman

Margins: 1 inch margins on all sides

 

Essay Applications should be sent to:

For the entry to be valid, it must be received by 12 midnight EST on March 24, 2006.

Only electronic submissions will be accepted.

Poster Contest Rules

Create a poster about how you use science, math, technology, and engineering in any activity that you love to do.  i.e. Sport, game, craft, hobby, etc. 

 

Posters must meet the following specifications:

Size: Posterboard that can be rolled and inserted in a mailing tube.

Title:  (This will help the judges understand what your poster is trying to convey.)

 

Students must design and complete their posters without the help of friends, parents, teachers, or siblings. 

Posters using clipart will be disqualified.

Posters will be judged on originality, clarity of message and quality of artwork.

 

Poster Applications should be scanned and sent to:

Failure to submit your application by Friday, March 24, 2006 will disqualify you.

 

 

Regional winners will be announced by Wednesday, April 12, 2006.  National Winners will be announced by Friday, April 28, 2006.

 

Reminders

§         Applications, essays and posters will not be returned.

§         Entrants agree by entering to give SEE ownership of their artwork and essays with the right to reproduce it should it be selected a regional or national winner.

§         Only winners will be notified. 

§         Decisions of the judges will be final.
