President's Message

Greetings Sorors and Friends of Delta:

Welcome to the website of the
Metropolitan Dallas Alumnae (MDA) chapter!

Our theme for the 2009-2011 biennium is:
“C3
:Cultivating, Collaborating and Cooperating:
M
oving Delta A
head and Rising to New Heights”

It is with great privilege that I serve as the 9th President of the Metropolitan Dallas Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Our chapter has served the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex with a special emphasis on the South Dallas community since 1985.  Our chapter’s life development center, One Delta Place, serves as a training and service center for youth, adults and families in need.

I am proud to have the opportunity to build on the legacy continued by our 8 previous MDA Presidents and started by our 22 founders in 1913.  Our chapter is comprised of more than 100 professional, college-educated women from around the metroplex.  The core of our organization is founded on Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service and is based on a National Five Point thrust.

Our chapter has proudly received the following awards and recognitions at the local, Regional and National levels: Presidential Academy-49th National Convention - Orlando, FL, Exemplary Social Action Award,  Membership Services Honorable Mention Great Reclamation Activities Award, Exemplary Program Planning Award, Legacies of Service Awards: Delta Academy/Gems, Arts & Letters Program, Educational Development, South Dallas Fair Park Trust Fund Challenge Grant Awardee-2009 and Capital One Entrepreneurship Grant-2009.

We invite your continued support of our programs through donations to our local foundation.  The Shirley A. Fridia Development Center, Inc. (SAFDC) is a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a primary purpose of providing youth mentoring programs as well as distributing scholarship awards to selected students, supporting and encouraging post secondary education, and providing programs and services to strengthen the community.  All contributions to SAFDC are tax deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Service Code.

Please check our website often for updates and information about events and public programs.  We invite you to roll up your sleeves and join us in our vision and mission to serve the community.

Warm Regards,

Trudy Bullard
